Holy Qur’an Chapter 16 The Bee: Verse 98 

Verse 98: So when you recite the Qur’an (as a good, righteous deed), seek refuge in God from Satan rejected (from His Mercy), because of his evil suggestions and whisperings during the recitation.

You may have heard “A’udhu Billahi Min ash-shaitanir -rajim“, an Arabic phrase which is recited by Muslims daily.

In reading the Holy Qur’an we often begin by saying A’udhu Billahi Min ash-shaitanir -rajim Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. 

What exactly is the meaning of A’udhu Billahi Min ash-shaitanir -rajim?

The meaning is “I seek refuge in Allah from the outcast Shaitan”. Shaitan meaning satan, devil or Iblis. Continuing with “Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim” translates to “In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”.

The Holy Qur’an mentions Jesus (p.b.u.h.) 25 times, where as Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) is only mentioned 5!  You cannot be a Muslim and not believe in the mighty messenger of God, Jesus (p.b.u.h.) in fact, we believe in all the Prophets and Messengers of God and make no distinction between any of them.

The Holy Qur’an Chapter 43 Ornaments Verse 57-89 with Annotated Interpretation

Verse 57. And when (Jesus) the son of Mary has been presented as an example (of God’s Power and Oneness and to refute his being deified by many Christians), your people turn from it in disdain;

Verse 58. And they say, “Are our deities better or is he?” They put it to you only for disputation. Indeed, they are a people addicted to contentiousness.15

But when the Qur’ān clarified Jesus’ identity, making it clear that he was only a human being who worshipped God, they did not like this and desired to continue to use the fact that many Christians deified him as an alleged argument for their
polytheism. They even said: “We worship angels, while Christians worship a human being. So our deities are better than theirs.”

Verse 59. Surely he ( Jesus) was not other than a servant (worshipping God), whom We favored (with Messengership), and We made him a miraculous example for the Children of Israel (to follow and mend their ways).

Verse 60. If We had so willed, We could have made some from among you angels, succeeding each other on the earth.16

The Qur’ān warns that being a human, Jesus, upon him be peace, was able to revive some of the dead and give life to some clay figures, but he did those things by God’s permission; and he was a human being who had been created, one responsible for worshipping God, which he did. The polytheists of Makkah thought that only angels could do the extraordinary things that Jesus, upon him be peace, and other Prophets did with God’s permission.

In fact, the believers among human beings are more virtuous and exalted in rank than the angels; the distinguished ones among them, such as the Prophets, are greater than the greatest among the angels; and the ordinary ones among the believers are greater than their counterparts among the angels.

Human beings have a will, i.e. freedom of choice, which the angels do not possess. So the angels cannot elevate their rank. Thus it was that God willed humankind, not the angels, to inhabit the earth as vicegerents, as a huge grace to humankind, to improve it and live on it according to His Will; and He chose the Prophets from among them.

Therefore, there is no need to look for virtue and achievement in other creatures, as it is humankind that has been endowed with the potential to attain the greatest virtues and achievements any created being can attain. And this fact categorically refutes the deification of the angels and the worship of them by human beings.

Verse 61. Surely he (Jesus) (brought into the world without a father, and granted such miracles as reviving the dead) is a means to knowledge of the Last Hour, so do not feel any doubt concerning it and follow Me (to attain eternal happiness in the other life). This is a straight path.

Verse 62. And never let Satan debar you (from the Straight Path). Surely he is a manifest enemy.

Verse 63. When Jesus came with manifest truths (and miracles), he said: “I have come to you with the Wisdom (the truths and essentials of faith and good life), and so that I may make clear to you some of what you differ on (matters that require clarification for your good in both worlds). So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and piety, and obey me.

Verse 64. “Surely God is He Who is my Lord as well as your Lord, so worship Him (alone). This is a straight path.”

Verse 65. However, parties (that arose and held differing views concerning him and his teachings) fell into disagreement among themselves. Then woe to those who do the greatest wrong (by corrupting his teachings) because of the punishment of a painful Day.

Verse 66. Do they (who persist in unbelief and evil deeds) wait but for the Last Hour – (waiting) that it come upon them all of a sudden, being unaware and indifferent toward it?

Verse 67. Those who are intimate friends (in the world) will be enemies one to another on that Day, except the God-revering, pious. (They will hear:)

Verse 68. “O My servants! You will have no fear today, nor will you grieve!

Verse 69. (You) who have believed in My signs and Revelations, and have submitted to Me wholly (as Muslims).

Verse 70. “Enter Paradise, you and your (believing) spouses, made contented.”

Verse 71. Trays of gold and goblets will be passed round them; and there will be therein all that souls desire, and eyes delight in:17 “And you will abide therein.

Verse 72. That is the Paradise which is made your inheritance,18 in return for what you used to do (in the world).

Verse 73. “In it there is for you fruit (of all kinds) in abundance, to eat therefrom.”

Verse 74. But the disbelieving criminals will abide in the punishment of Hell.

Verse 75. It will not be abated for them, and therein they are in despair (of any mercy and hope of escape).

Verse 76. We have not wronged them, but they are the wrongdoers (who ever wronged themselves).

Verse 77. They will call out (to the chief keeper of Hell): “O Malik! Let your Lord make an end of us!” He says: “You are bound to remain (therein)!”

Verse 78. We have brought you the truth, assuredly, but most of you are averse to the truth.

Verse 79. Or are they settling on some plan (against you, O Messenger)? But We have already settled a “plan” (against them).

Verse 80. Or do they think that We do not hear their secrets (that they whisper only to themselves,) and their private counsels? Indeed We do, and Our messengers (angels) are by them, recording.

Verse 81. Say: “If the All-Merciful had a child, I would be the first to worship.”

Verse 82. All-Glorified is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the
Supreme Throne,19 (exalted) above all that they attribute (to Him in ignorance and falsehood).

Verse 83. So leave them plunging about in play and amusement until the Day which they have been promised.

Verse 84. And He it is Who is God in the heaven (exclusively deserving of worship), and God on the earth (exclusively deserving of worship). He is the All-Wise, the All-Knowing.

Verse 85. Blessed and Supreme is He to Whom belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them; and with Him is the knowledge of the Last Hour. And to Him you are on the way to return.

Verse 86. Those whom they (deify and then) invoke apart from God have no power and permission to intercede (with God in either world); only those who bear witness to the truth (of God’s absolute Oneness in Divinity, Lordship, and Sovereignty), and who have knowledge (of the truth, will have it).

Verse 87. If you ask them who has created them, they will certainly say, “God.” How then are they turned away from the truth and make false claims?

Verse 88. (God certainly hears His Messenger when) he says: “O my Lord! Surely those are a people who do not believe.”

Verse 89. Yet forbear and pardon them, and (when you go your way,) say, “Peace (be upon you)!” In time, they will come to know.

Verse 31. “We are your well-wishing comrades and helpers in the Hereafter, as we have been in the life of the world. You will have therein all that your souls desire, and you will have therein all that you ask for.

Verse 32. “A welcoming gift from the One All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.”9

Verse 85.And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of bounty and blessing.19

19. The reason why we ask to be an inheritor of Paradise is that:

  1. Inheritance is the easiest way of earning, a way which requires no labor, so asking to inherit Paradise means that we are saying, “I ask You, O my Lord, to place me in Paradise out of Your pure grace, because I cannot deserve it by my deeds.”
  2. There is a place pre-assigned for everyone in both Paradise and Hell. If one dies and enters Hell, the people of Paradise inherit that person’s place.

The Holy Qur’an Chapter 7: Verse 54, Annotated Interpretation Note 13

Verse 54. Indeed your Lord is God, Who has created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He has established Himself on the Supreme Throne, covering the day with the night, each pursuing the other swiftly, with the sun, the moon, and the stars obedient to His command. Know well that His is the creation and His is the command. Blessed and Supreme is God, the Lord of the worlds.13

13. This verse and those that follow show humans traveling in the outer world and their inner world to demonstrate to them God’s absolute dominion. A person first focuses on his or her own private world. It is God, our Lord, Who creates all of us with all our features, and nourishes us and governs our lives and bodies.

The verse, therefore, draws our attention to this fact, and, therefore, we must accept Him as our Lord Who has the right to direct us in all aspects of our lives.

Then, it has us travel in the outer world and explains why the right to rule or command belongs to God, both in our world and the universe as a whole. Since it is He Who has created the heavens and the earth, He owns them and has the absolute right to rule over them.

Seeing that a person claims exclusive ownership over private property in which he or she has only one share out of a thousand, the others belonging to God, God will surely have the total right to execute dominion over His property.

The verse also states that God has created the heavens and the earth in six days and established Himself on the Supreme Throne. The Qur’ān uses the word “day” not only in the sense of our normal day, but also as time unit and period. Another verse (Chapter 32: Verse 5) mentions that one day is like 1,000 years in our reckoning, and another mentions a day which lasts 50,000 years (Chapter 70: Verse 4).  This shows that the concept of day is relative.

The “world” does not consist in our world or the visible universe. Rather, there are worlds or dimensions one within another.

Just as time is different in the world of dreams, so is it also different in the worlds of the spirit and imagination, as well as in the world of immaterial forms and the High Empyrean (Jabarūt ).

It can even be said that the whole lifespan of the universe, from its creation to its final destruction, is a day; and as mentioned in the Qur’ān, the lifetime in the other world is also a day. So, what the Qur’ān means by six days may be the geological eras of the earth or the creational periods of the universe, which still continue, or the periods from the beginning of the creation of the universe until the time it took its present form.

‘Arsh (translated as the Supreme Throne) literally means anything constructed high like a roof, a dome, an arch, or pavilion.

However, since the Qur’ān addresses all levels of understanding through all ages, it tends to present certain abstract truths, like those pertaining to Divinity, with concrete expressions, and it uses metaphors and comparisons. It presents the Kursiyy (Seat: see Chapter 2: Verse 255) as if it were a platform or seat, and the ‘Arsh as if it were a throne and God were the ruler of the universe seated on His throne, governing all creation.

By so doing, the Qur’ān establishes in our minds God’s supreme authority and dominion. God is not just the Creator of the universe, but is also its sovereign and ruler.

Having created the universe, He did not detach Himself from it, nor become indifferent to His creation. On the contrary, He effectively rules over the universe as a whole, as well as controlling every small part of it. All power and sovereignty rest with Him. Everything in the universe is fully in His grasp and is subservient to His Will and Power.

Bediüzzaman Said Nursi says that, “‘Arsh is the composition of God’s Names the First, the Last, the Outward, and the Inward ( Mathnawī, 175).

Also, deducing from his description of water as the ‘Arsh (throne) of mercy and earth, the throne of life, we can say that ‘Arsh (the Supreme Throne) implies God’s full control of, and authority over, the universe. Elements such as water and earth are things that conduct God’s decrees or media by which they are manifested and executed.

Holy Qur’an Chapter 61 The Ranks (As -Saff) Verse 6 with Annotated Interpretation Note 3 & 4

Verse 6. And Jesus son of Mary said: “O Children of Israel! Surely I am the Messenger of God sent to you, confirming (whatever of the truth is contained in) the Torah which was revealed before me,3 and bringing the glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.”4 But when he came to them (the whole of humankind including the later generations of the Children of Israel) with the manifest signs (of his being God’s Messenger), they said: “This (which he preaches and does) is clearly (nothing but) sorcery.

3. Jesus, upon him be peace, did not come with a new religion or message from God. He communicated the same message as all the previous Prophets had done, and the Sharī’ah of Moses, upon him be peace; the only difference was that he made lawful for them certain things that had been forbidden to them (3: 50). He also made clear to them some of the matters in which they differed (43: 63). For Jesus, upon him be peace, and other dimensions of his Messengership, see Chapter 3: 48–51, notes 8–9; Chapter 5: 46–47, 110, 116–118; Chapter 19: 30–34.

4. Every Prophet gave the glad tidings of the Messenger to come after him and declared his faith in him. (For the mission of the Messengers and the preceding Messenger’s giving the tiding of the advent of the one to follow, see Chapter 3: 81, note 15; and for why God sent a Messenger with a Book after the others, see Chapter 5: 48, note 11.)

So, it is natural that Jesus gave the glad tidings of the Prophet Muhammad, upon them be peace. It is also clear in the Gospel of John that the Children of Israel had been expecting another Prophet besides Jesus, upon him be peace:

Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed, and did not deny; but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you that Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” Then said they to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” He said: “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” (John, 1: 19–23)

As understood from this passage, the Children of Israel had been expecting the coming of the Christ (Messiah), Elijah, upon him be peace, and another Prophet (that prophet) whomust have been known and who was expected by everyone at that time.

As explained in Appendix 1 of this Qur’an this prediction is supported by several references. Paráklētos (differently rendered as Counselor, Helper, or Comforter in different versions of the New Testament) is, in fact, a corruption of Períklytos (the “Much-Praised”). Its Aramiac counterpart is Mawhamana, which means Ahmad. Ahmad and Muhammad are derived from the same root verb, “Ha-Mi-Da” meaning to praise. However, Ahmad also means one who praises. In many Prophetic Traditions, it is stated that one of the Prophet Muhammad’s (p.b.u.h.) names is Ahmad, and this is mentioned by Hasan ibn Thābit, a famous poet during the Prophet’s (p.b.u.h.) time, in one of his poems. So the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, was also known and mentioned as Ahmad during his own lifetime. Though the name Ahmad had not been known and used before him among the Arabs, this name became widely known and used during his time. It is of interest that Bediüzzaman Said Nursi records that the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, was mentioned in the Torah also with the name Munhamanna, meaning Muhammad, the praised one. Concerning the Prophet Muhammad’s (p.b.u.h.)  mission regarding the People of the Book, and their relationship with him, the Qur’ān states: They follow the (most illustrious) Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find described (with all his distinguishing features) in the Torah and the Gospel (that are) with them. He enjoins upon them what is right and good and forbids them what is evil; he makes pure, wholesome things lawful for them, and bad, corrupt things unlawful. And he relieves them of their burdens (remaining of their own Law) and the restraints that were upon them. So those who believe in him (with all sincerity), honor and support him, and help him, and follow the Light (the Qur’ān) which has been sent down with him – those, they are the truly prosperous (Chapter 7: 157).

Muhammad was Predicted to come in the Gospel of John

The essay reads as follows:

Just a quick note, the Arabic word “Muhammad” is an expression which means “The honorable one” or “The glorified one” or “The admirable”.  Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was the first in the Middle East to be named “Muhammad”.  Below, you will see how Jesus (p.b.u.h.) in today’s Gospel of John had called this human Prophet which he (p.b.u.h.) predicted his (p.b.u.h.) coming “The honorable one”.

Jesus (p.b.u.h.) in the Greek Bible used the Greek word “Periklytos” which means the admirable or glorified one. He (p.b.u.h.) called that predicted human prophet “Periklytos”.  This word corresponds exactly to the Arabic word “Muhammad” which also means the “admired one” or “glorified one.” In other words, “Periklytos” is “Muhammad” in Greek.

Let us start…

In the Bible we can find the following four passages wherein Jesus (p.b.u.h.) predicts a great event:

John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever

John 15:26 “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me

John 14:26 “But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:7-14 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine and shall shew [it] unto you.

In these four verses, the word “comforter” is translated from the word “Paraclete” (“Ho Parakletos” in Greek). Parakletos in Greek is interpreted as “an advocate”, one who pleads the cause of another, one who councils or advises another from deep concern for the other’s welfare

(Beacon Bible commentary volume VII, p.168). In these verses we are told that once Jesus (p.b.u.h.) departs, a Paraclete will come.

He will glorify Jesus (p.b.u.h.), and he will guide mankind into all truth. This “Paraclete” is identified in John 14:26 as the Holy Ghost.

It must be pointed out that the original Greek manuscripts speak of a “Holy pneuma.” The word pneuma {pnyoo’-mah} is the Greek root word for “spirit.” There is no separate word for “Ghost” in the Greek manuscripts, of which there are claimed to be over 24,000 today. 

The translators of the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible translate this word as “Ghost” to convey their own personal understanding of the text. However, a more accurate translation is “Holy Spirit.” More faithful and recent translations of the Bible, such as the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), do indeed now translate it as “Holy Spirit.” This is significant and will be expounded upon shortly.

All Bibles in existence today are compiled from “ancient manuscripts,” the most ancient of which being those of the fourth century C.E. Any scholar of the Bible will tell us that no two ancient manuscripts are exactly identical. All Bibles in our possession today are the result of extensive cutting and pasting from these various manuscripts with no single one being the definitive reference.

What the translators of the Bible have done when presented with such discrepancies is to do their best to choose the correct version. In other words, since they cannot know which “ancient manuscript” is the correct one, they must do a little detective work on the text in order to decide which “version” of a given verse to accept. John 14:26 is just such an example of such selection techniques.

John 14:26 is the only verse of the Bible which associates the Parakletos with the Holy Spirit. But if we were to go back to the “ancient manuscripts” themselves, we would find that they are not all in agreement that the “Parakletos” is the Holy Spirit

For instance, in the famous the Codex Syriacus, written around the fifth century C.E., and discovered in 1812 on Mount Sinai by Mrs.Agnes S. Lewis (and Mrs. Bensley), the text of 14:26 reads; Paraclete, the Spirit”; and not “Paraclete, the Holy Spirit.”.

The Human Prophet

A “Spirit” in the New Testament is a human Prophet.   Therefore, Jesus (p.b.u.h.) had predicted the coming of a human Prophet (spirit) after him (p.b.u.h.) and not the Holy Spirit.  Jesus (p.b.u.h.) would not have used the word “he” for the Holy Spirit.  He would have used “it” instead in John 14:26 above.  

Read 1 John 4:1-3 below:

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world,” (1 John 4:1-3)

(Also see 1 John 4:6), or an inspired human, for example read 1 Corinthians 2:10, 2 Thessalonians 2:2, …etc.

There had been many cases of deliberate modification of the Biblical text by members of the Christian clergy themselves, as well as deliberate large-scale projects to “correct” the Bible, and the writings of “the early fathers,” (such as the deliberate insertion of the verse of 1 John 5:7 which is now universally discarded).

It is, therefore, possible that either:

1) The word “Holy” could have been dropped by a careless copyist., or

2) Someone could have inserted the word “Holy” to convey his personal understanding of the text.

Which was it?

In order to arrive at the answer, we must follow the same path of detective work the Biblical scholars themselves do. We must study the characteristics of the “Paraclete” and compare them to both the “Holy Spirit” and to a “Spirit.” 

Muslims believe that Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was the one intended and not the Holy Ghost.

In the Christian’s own “Gospel of Barnabas” Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) is mentioned by name here. The Trinitarian church, however, has done its utmost to obliterate all existing copies of “The Gospel of Barnabas,” and to hide it from the masses or to label it a forgery.

For this reason, it becomes necessary to show that even the Gospels adopted by Paul’s church also originally spoke of Muhammad (p.b.u.h.).

Christian scholars see evidence of tampering, especially with the word “Spirit”:  

In the famous “Anchor Bible” we find the following quote: “The word parakletos is peculiar in the NT to the Johnannine literature. In John ii Jesus (p.b.u.h.) is a parakletos (not a title), serving as a heavenly intercessor with the Father … Christian tradition has identified this figure (Paraclete) as the Holy Spirit, but scholars like Spitta, Delafosse, Windisch, Sasse, Bultmann, and Betz have doubted whether this identification is true to the original picture and have suggested that the Paraclete was once an independent salvific figure, later confused with the Holy Spirit.” (The Anchor Bible, Doubleday & Company, Inc, Garden City, N.Y. 1970, Volume 29A, p. 1135)

We are about to see some of the evidence that goes to prove this position.

Does the Holy Spirit “speak” or “inspire”:

Important Note:  

The Greek word translated as “hear” in the Biblical verses (“whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak”) is the Greek word “akouo” {ak-oo’-o} meaning to perceive sounds. It has, for instance, given us the word “acoustics,” the science of sounds.

Similarly, the verb “to speak” is the Greek verb “laleo” {lal-eh’-o} which has the general meaning “to emit sounds” and the specific meaning “to speak.” This verb occurs very frequently in the Greek text of the Gospels.

It designates a solemn declaration by Jesus (p.b.u.h.) during his preaching (For example Matthew 9:18). Obviously, these verbs require hearing and speech organs in order to facilitate them. There is a distinct difference between someone “inspiring” something and him “speaking” something. So, the Paraclete will “hear” and “speak,” not “inspire.”

Muhammad (p.b.u.h.), as seen above, did indeed fulfill this prophesy. Whatsoever he “HEARD” from Gabriel (p.b.u.h.) (The Qur’an), the same did he physically “SPEAK” to his followers. In the Qur’an we read:

(God swears) By the star when it falls! Your comrade (Muhammad) errs not, nor is he deceived; Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is naught save a revelation that is revealed (unto him).” (The noble Qur’an, Al-Najm (53):1-4)

The Holy Ghost was already with them:

In the above verses we read “if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” The comforter cannot be the Holy Ghost because the Holy Ghost (according to the Bible) was “with” them already (and even quite active) long before the coming of Jesus (p.b.u.h.) himself and then throughout his ministry. Read for example.

Genesis 1:2 “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

1 Samuel 10:10 “And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

1 Samuel 11:6 “And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?” (Isaiah 63:11)

For he (John the Baptist) shall be great in the sight of the Lord and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.” (Luke 1:15)

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee.” (Luke 1:35)

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost” (Luke 1:41)

And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,” (Luke 1:67)

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.” (Luke 2:25)

And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost (Simeon), that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.” (Luke 2:26)

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him (Jesus), and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:22)

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.” (John 20:21-22)

Did they or did they not already receive the Holy Ghost?

Was Jesus (p.b.u.h.) not still with them when they received the Holy Ghost? Was the Holy Ghost not with Simeon, Mary, Elisabeth, and Zacharias before the birth of Jesus (p.b.u.h.)?

Was the Holy Ghost not with Moses (p.b.u.h.) when he parted the seas?

There are many more similar verses to be found in the Bible. In the above verses, we are told that if Jesus (p.b.u.h.) does not depart then the “parakletos” will not come.

Thus, the “Holy Ghost” cannot be the one originally intended since it was already with them. The contradiction is quite obvious.

Selective translation: Jesus (p.b.u.h.) too is a Paraclete:

The word “Paraclete” is applied to Jesus (p.b.u.h.) himself in 1 John 2:1

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate(parakletos) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” (1 John 2:1)

Notice how the translators have managed to translate this exact same word one way (advocate) in reference to Jesus (p.b.u.h.) and another (comforter) with regard to the coming “parakletos.”

Why would they want to do such a thing? The reason is that the translators did not want the Christians, after reading “We have an advocate (parakletos) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” to then read “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another advocate (parakletos).

Can we see why this would make them nervous?

Well, what was Jesus (p.b.u.h.)? He (p.b.u.h.) was a prophet! Read:

“…This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.” (Matthew 21:11) and “..Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people” (Luke 24:19:).

Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was also a prophet of God. We have already demonstrated in chapter one how the verses of the Bible themselves prove quite conclusively that Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was neither a god nor part of God Almighty, but an elect messenger of God.

The concept of his (p.b.u.h.) divinity was concocted by Paul and his ministry during the first three centuries after the departure of Jesus (p.b.u.h.) and is explicitly refuted by the Bible itself and Jesus’ (p.b.u.h.) apostles.

“Another” Paraclete:

Now go back to John 14:16 and notice the words “another Paraclete.” If the comforter is the Holy Ghost, then how many Holy Ghost’s are there?

The word “another” is significant. We have already seen how this term is applied to Jesus (p.b.u.h.) himself.

In English, “another” may mean “One more of the same kind” or “one more of a different kind.” If the latter were the one intended, then the current Christian interpretation might bear some merit.

However, if “One more of the same kind” was what was intended then this is positive proof that the coming Paraclete would be just like Jesus (p.b.u.h.), a human being and a prophet, not a ghost.

The actual Greek word used was the word “allon” which is the masculine accusative form of “allos” {al’-los}: “Another of the SAME kind.” The Greek word for “another of a different kind” is “heteros” {het’-er-os}.

Prof. Abdul-Ahad Dawud (formerly Rev. David Benjamin Keldani, Bishop of Uramia) says:

“The adjective ‘another’ preceding a foreign noun for the first time announced seems very strange and totally superfluous. There is no doubt that the text has been tampered with and distorted.” (Muhammad in the Bible, Prof. Abdul-`Ahad Dawud, p. 211)

“The Paraclete is a parallel figure to Jesus (p.b.u.h.) himself; and this conclusion is confirmed in the fact that the title is suitable for both.

It is clear from 14:16 that the source thought there were sendings of two Paracletes, Jesus (p.b.u.h.) and his (p.b.u.h.) successor, the one following the other” (The Gospel of John a Commentary, Rudolf Bultmann, p. 567)

Parakletos” or “Periklytos”?

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:  

Some scholars believe that what Jesus (p.b.u.h.) said in his (p.b.u.h.) own Aramaic tongue in these verses represents more closely the Greek word “Periklytos” which means the admirable or glorified one.

 This word corresponds exactly to the Arabic word “Muhammad” which also means the “admired one” or “glorified one.” In other words, “Periklytosis “Muhammad” in Greek. There are several similar documented cases of similar word substitution in the Bible.

It is also quite possible that both words were contained in the original text but were dropped by a copyist because of the ancient custom of writing words closely packed, with no spaces in-between them.

In such a case the original reading would have been: “and He will give you another comforter (Parakletos), the admirable one (Periklytos)”.

In his book “Muhammed in the Bible”, Professor `Abdul-Ahad Dawud, formerly Rev. David Benjamin Keldani, Roman Catholic Bishop of Uramiah, submits a much more eloquent and scholarly presentation in defense of these assertions, far beyond the limited abilities of this humble author.

The following is a very brief quotation from that book:

“The ‘Paraclete’ does not signify either ‘consoler’ or ‘advocate’; in truth, it is not a classical word at all. The Greek orthography of the word is Paraklytos which in ecclesiastical literature is made to mean ‘one called to aid, advocate, intercessor’ (Dict. Grec.-Francais, by Alexandre).

One need not profess to be a Greek scholar to know that the Greek word for ‘comforter or consoler’ is not ‘Paraclytos’ but ‘Paracalon’. I have no Greek version of the Septuagint with me, but I remember perfectly well that the Hebrew word for ‘comforter’ (mnahem) in the Lamentations of Jeremiah (I. 2, 9, 16, 17, 21, etc.) is translated into Parakaloon, from the verb Parakaloo, which means to call to, invite, exhort, console, pray, invoke. It should be noticed that there is a long alpha vowel after the consonant kappa in the ‘Paracalon’ which does not exist in the ‘Paraclytos.’

In the phrase (He who consoles us in all our afflictions) ‘paracalon’ and not ‘Paraclytos’ is used. (I exhort, or invite, thee to work). Many other examples can be cited here.

There is another Greek word for comforter or consoler, i.e. “Parygorytys’ from ‘I console’…..The proper Greek term for ‘advocate’ is Sunegorus and for ‘intercessor’ or ‘mediatorMeditea”  (Muhammad in the Bible, Prof. Abdul-`Ahad Dawud, pp. 208-209)

God Almighty describes His final prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the noble Qur’an with the following words:

And We (God) have not sent you (O Muhammad) but as a mercy to all creation” (The noble Qur’an, Al-Anbiya(21):107)

Verily, there has come unto you a messenger (Muhammad) from among yourselves. It grieves him that you should endure hardship. [He is] fearful for you. For the believers [he is] full of pity, merciful.” (The noble Qur’an, Al-Tawba (9):128)

He” not “It”:

Notice the use of “he” when referring to the Paraclete and not “it.” If we read John 16:13, we will find no less than SEVEN occurrences of the masculine pronoun “He” and “Himself.

There is not another verse in the 66 books of the Protestant Bible or the seventy-three books of the Catholic Bible which contains seven masculine pronouns, or seven feminine pronouns, or even seven neuter genders. So many masculine pronouns ill befits a ghost, holy or otherwise. The word “Spirit” (Greek, pneu’ma), is of a neutral gender and is always referred to by the pronoun “it.”

Mr. Ahmed Deedat says:

When this point of seven masculine pronouns was mooted by Muslims in India in their debates with the Christian missionaries, the Urdu (Indian) version of the Bible had the pronouns presently changed to SHE, SHE, SHE! so that the Muslims could not claim that this prophecy referred to Muhammad (peace be upon him) – a man! 

This Christian deception I have seen in the Bible myself. This is a common trickery by the missionaries, more specially in the vernacular. The very latest ruse I have stumbled across in the Afrikaans Bible, on the very verse under discussion; they have changed the word “Trooster” (Comforter) to “Voorspraak” (Mediator) and interpolated the phrase – “die Heilige Gees” – meaning THE HOLY GHOST, which phrase no Bible scholar has ever dared to interpolate into any of the multifarious English Versions. No, not even the Jehovah’s witnesses. This is how the Christians manufacture God’s word.

He will guide you into all truth:

In the above verses Jesus (p.b.u.h.) is quoted as saying “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.

What does Jesus (p.b.u.h.) mean by “ye cannot bear them now?

If we were to read the Bible, we would find many verses throughout the Bible wherein Jesus (p.b.u.h.) bemoans the lack of understanding he (p.b.u.h.) was constantly greeted with from his (p.b.u.h.) disciples throughout his (p.b.u.h.) ministry:

And he (Jesus) saith unto them (the disciples).  O ye of little faith.” (Matthew 8:26)

“…and (Jesus) said unto him (Peter), O thou of little faith.” (Matthew 14:31)

He (Jesus) said unto them (the disciples), O ye of little faith.” (Matthew 16:8)

And he (Jesus) said unto them (the disciples), Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:25)

Notice that these are not common Jews who he (p.b.u.h.) is saying these words to, but his (p.b.u.h.) own elect disciples.

The Bible vividly illustrates how he (p.b.u.h.) is constantly going out of his (p.b.u.h.) way to simplify matters for them and to speak to them as one speaks to little children. However, even at that, they still misunderstand. He (p.b.u.h.) is finally driven to frustration and made to say:

And Jesus said, are ye even yet without understanding?”  (Matthew 15:16)

and “And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you?” (Luke 9:41)

We are even told that his (p.b.u.h.) own people did not accept him (p.b.u.h.):

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” (John 1:11)

Jesus (p.b.u.h.) had “all truth,” but he (p.b.u.h.) could not give it to them because they were not fit to receive it. Therefore, he (p.b.u.h.) told them that another would come after him (p.b.u.h.) who shall guide them into “all truth” which they could not receive from him (p.b.u.h.). He (p.b.u.h.) tells us that the one who will come will “teach you all things.”

This one who will guide them into “all truth” is described as “The spirit of truth.”  We have already seen how the word “spirit” in the Bible is synonymous with the word “Prophet.

Muhammad (p.b.u.h.), even before he (p.b.u.h.) became the prophet of Islam was known among his (p.b.u.h.) people as “Al-sadik Al-amin,” which means “The truthful, the trustworthy.

Thus, it becomes apparent that Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was indeed “the spirit of truth.” Since the departure of Jesus (p.b.u.h.) and to this day, the “Holy Ghost” has not taught mankind a single new truth not revealed by Jesus (p.b.u.h.) himself.

It is important to notice the words “ALL truth” and “MANY things.” “Many” and “All” means more than one.

What new and innovative teachings has the Holy Ghost given mankind which were not taught by Jesus (peace be upon him)? The Qur’an says:

O mankind! The messenger (Muhammad) hath come unto you with the truth from your Lord. Therefore believe; (it is) better for you. But if ye disbelieve, still, lo! unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. Allah is the All-Knower, the All-Wise.” (The noble Qur’an, Al-Nissa(4:120)

We (God) have sent you (O Muhammad) with the Truth, as a bringer of glad tidings and a warner.” (The noble Qur’an, Al-Baqarah (2:119)

Those are the Verses of Allah. We recite them upon you (O Muhammad) in Truth. And verily, you are among the messengers.” (The noble Qur’an, Al-Baqarah (2:252)

A message to the Christians of the World:

There should be no reason why you would change the name of a person when you translate a text. Why was Mohammad’s (p.b.u.h.) name translated from Hebrew to Greek to English? I implore the Christians to please ask their Church leaders (namely priests, pastors & ministers) about this. You don’t have to believe me or this story, but you owe it to yourself to understand your faith a little bit more. If you find your faith contradictory, then you should search for the religion that has no error. You shouldn’t disregard religion altogether, for that is foolish.

The point of this video is: Bible has been tampered in so many ways. This is one of them. The Church officials of the past changed what they thought should be edited and committed a huge mistake and because of this the Qur’an challenges its readers, “Do they not ponder over the Qur’an. Had it been from other than God, you would have found therein much discrepencies.

It is an essential for those studying comparative religion, and it is sure to help those who are seeking to understand – or come to terms with the theory of Salvation in Christianity. Once you watch this lecture, you will see why you, Christians, have had doubts about the theory of salvation because Ahmad Deedat is logical, systematic and level-headed. In regards to the people waiting for Jesus (p.b.u.h.) to come back and make them masters of the world, you see the Bible tells us that Jesus (p.b.u.h.) is coming for a special purpose, and that purpose is found in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 7 Verse 21-23 

21 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Jesus’ (p.b.u.h.) purpose of returning is to rectify the people who misunderstood him (p.b.u.h.) and started worshipping him (p.b.u.h.) as ‘Lord’, as ‘God’ instead of the Father in Heaven.

Muslims are not waiting for Jesus (p.b.u.h.), there is nothing he (p.b.u.h.) can teach us.  Allah (s.w.t.) teaches us that our religion is absolutely complete as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an Chapter 5: Verse 3 as follows:

This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion….  

Ask the Christian, if it is clearly mentioned in your Bibles about the LAST and FINAL Messenger Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) then why don’t they believe in him?

The others who do not want to accept the truth, and say ‘Oh I have been a Christian for 40 years, now you want me to change my religion?’ So they are afraid…many a time the EGO comes in between, society comes in between, many of times they say, ‘What will my friends tell me, what will my customers tell me?’, so it is these things that prevent them from accepting Islam…BUT what they fail to realize is that they do not mind offending the Creator just to please their family and friends.  

Pleasing the Creator is more important than pleasing your family and friends. So those who realize the importance of the Creator, the importance of Almighty God, Alhamdulillah, they accept Islam.

It says he (p.b.u.h.) will be born in a city by the name of Sambala, Sambala means a place of peace and serenity, that is Mecca! He (p.b.u.h.) will be born in house of the chief of the village of Sambala. Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was born in the House of Quraysh,

It says that he (p.b.u.h.) will be a teacher for the whole of humanity and we Muslims know that Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was sent to the whole of humanity!
